Canadian Bears & Vegas 2013

For a while a visit to the Canadian Great Bear Rainforest to look for Kermode Spirit Bears had been near the top of our to do list, finally in September 2013 it reached the top and we started searching for tours & lodges that offered the chance of viewing this elusive bear in the wild.

After studying reviews and reading about the accommodation and daily bear viewing trips on offer we settled on the Spirit Bear Lodge. Located on Swindle Island in the coastal fjords of British Columbia, the community of Klemtu is home to the Kitasoo and Xai’xais people who are your hosts at this comfortable lodge.

We started our adventure with a flight to Vancouver, then flew on to Bella Bella, took a short water taxi ride to Shearwater where we spent our first night on the BC coast. First thing the next morning we were transferred on a scenic boat ride to Klemtu and the Spirit Bear Lodge.

We did their SBL 6 package (booked directly with the lodge) this gave us five nights at the lodge. Once at the lodge all meals, drinks and bear viewing tours are inclusive of the package cost.

Once we completed our Great Bear Rainforest adventure we returned to Vancouver and flew onto Las Vegas for G2E the Global Gaming Expo.
